Too Many Events, Not Enough Time To Post

The week after the big Oklahoma trip was packed with sooo much, I'm still recovering. First Aunt Carrie came to town, and everyone gathered at the house to dine and visit. It was great to see her again, and everyone had a great time. (Sorry uncle Doug, I didn't torture you with the camera since you weren't feeling so hot when you were here. We all had a great time when you were here, too.)

My grade school reunion was that Sat. I had a great time and wish I could have stayed longer to visit with everyone. One of my classmates came in from Chicago and another from Texas. Not too bad a turn out for an all school event. Probrably over 100 people. I had to dash out of there though to go work at Patrick's Bar and No Grill. Stacy and I worked the door for the Waldo Falldo Crawldo Pub Crawl. Lots of fun at this event also. It was like a reunion night all the way around, because I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in a while.
Sunday, brought a huge outing for Carli and Gus. Their first trip to the "K"!! What a perfect day for it. Gus was in awe with his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide. He was truly amazed and loved every minute of his big league debut. Carli was so excited...until the fireworks started. We ended up walking around for the first three innings until she was convinced that there would be no more fireworks!!! Good thing the Royals didn't hit a home run.It was a blast going to the game with Grandpa Don!!! Carli's favorite things were crackerjacks and Slugger. I don't know if Gus enjoyed Dave's beer or the ballpark more.

That's all for now. Take care everyone and have a great week!

COWBOY UP!!!!!

SEPT. 12-14                       O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!!!!!A whirlwind trip to the great state of OK!  Dave and I were privileged to travel in Kathleen's new luxury vehicle for a quick trip to the Sooner state.  Stayed at the Bricktown Hotel which had a 24/7 shuttle to and from the Bricktown entertainment district. (very nice amenity)  Listened to a 70+ yr old man sing the blues at the Biting Sow.  (His harmonica playing was outstanding!)  Buckets of beer $6.00. Need I say more?Sat was a big tourist day.  Went to the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.  What an amazing place!  We spent over 3 hrs there and could have spent a few more. I met a lady there who had lost here daughter and granddaughter in the bombing.  After reading accounts of the survivors and/or families, it was even more sobering to meet someone who's life was so immediately touched by this senseless tragedy. I definitely recommend a trip to OKC just to visit the memorial.  After that, we were ready for something a little more light-hearted.  Burritos, margaritas and then off to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum! Got to see an old western town, the grave of Abilene the long-horned steer, and sculptures of Abe Lincoln, John Wayne (of course), and Buffalo Bill.  Plus, we pressed pennies and we were bronco busters.  Time for a nap and some pasta.  What could make the day any better?  Well, we were privileged to witness the parade of the shortest skirts known to man.  All I can say is Carli will not be attending any universities or colleges in this great state. That's enough for this post.  If I tell you everything, you won't need to go.  Why ruin the suprise!! I can't wait to go again.  Remember, COWBOY UP!!!

The Whole Gang

Last Wed. James and Shane came over for a little visit. What a great time we all had. I was thinking too bad Casey isn't here. I love having all of my chicks around. Anyway, no sooner had the thought crossed my mind, the phone rang. Guess who! Casey must have had some intuition that everyone was together. We all talked and laughed, I think a good time was had by all.
I like how Carli doesn't think anything of standing on Shane and how Gus just can't keep that foot from stomping to the beat!!

Water fun

Dave and I took the kids to the spray park in Loose Park on Labor Day.  Usually Gus is the low key kid and Carli runs around like a nut, but the roles were reversed this time. They both love the water as I think the video shows. So does Dave!

Novice post

Hello everyone!! I decided to jump on the band wagon and start a blog. Hopefully, our events are just as exciting as Kendra's and Carrie's. Just to bring you up to date on all the gang.

James was in a music showcase last night at the Record Bar in Westport. He didn't go on until 11:00pm. Even though it was past my bedtime, I went. WOW!! He was incredible! I am so glad I was able to see him in action. Next time I will think to take the camera to record some of his set. Also, Saturday is his last day at Dark Horse Tavern. Don't fret though. Your favorite bartender can be found at Blanc, just around the corner from the Horse!

Shane is now a student at UMKC majoring in biology. He was supposed to go with me to James' show, but two tests today kept him at home with his books instead! He is toying with the idea of a career in public health. He is still at CVS pharmacy. He also just purchased Mom and Dad's old white taurus. (Kind of a change from cruising in the Mustang although he still has that car.)

Casey has had an exciting souple of months. He was in Auburn, NY working with a professional theatre troup for three weeks in July and Aug. What a great experience for him!!! He was back in KC for three days and received a call from a theatre troup in Arrow Rock, Mo to come work for them through Labor Day. In that time, school started again at Missouri Valley along with play tryouts. He not only has a part in their big fall production, but he is designing all the costumes. What a busy guy!

Side note: How did I end up with such smart and talented offspring?

Carli started preschool this month and loves it!! "It's real school Mom." She gets to walk to the library every Tuesday and I can tell that she is really learning a lot all ready. Her favorite saying is "great moogly and googly". The firetruck came to school and she was so excited that she was shaking!!! The fireman got a great kick out of her enthusiasm.

Gus is a monkey. He has to be the way he climbs and everything and then tries to stand on the highest point. I know my heart is working fine the way he keeps it pounding in my chest all the time. He is even more independent than Carli. (Didn't think that was possible!) He is starting to talk more and will grab his blanket and walk to his room saying night night when he has had enough.

That's all I have for now. Next post shouldn't be this lengthy. This picture (if I can figure out how to get it to post) was taken Mother's Day and it is the most recent of the whole gang. Take care!
